If I could, I’d be a robot.
Most people who have spent any extended amount of time with me know that I am a pretty stereotypical geek. For one, I take a strong stance on geek vs. nerd. I love robots, comic books (Iron Man and Deadpool, of course), video games, and electronics. And then there’s the countless hours I spend on my computer writing custom WordPress applications.
I am an Eagle Scout
I grew up in South Jordan, Utah and was thrown in to the local scouting program at an early age. It helped that I really love the outdoors, and always respected the mentality of doing a good turn daily. I was even a life guard at a summer BSA camp in high school.
I am a Black Belt
It is true that spending so much time behind a desk packs on a few pounds, but rest assured I am a trained fighting machine! I earned my 1st degree black belt in Kwon Shu (kenpo) in 2007, and studied jiu jitsu for a short time thereafter.
I am a certified sailor
My family is from the Pacific Northwest, and I always have a burning passion to spend more time there. After studying my knots and nautical skills, my brother Jonathan and I embarked on one of the greatest adventures of my life in the summer of 2013. We spent a week in the San Juan islands just off the coast of Northern Washington and proved our ability to captain a 38′ sailboat to the American Sailing Association.
I Love Web Development
My (very masculine) beard makes me look a lot older than I am. Despite my young age, I’ve been making websites since the good old geocities days. While still in high school I had the great privilege to intern for the school district and help revamp their network of 42 websites for elementary, middle and high schools in the area.
I attended the Academy of Information Technology my junior and senior years of high school and got my first job as a web applications developer during that time. Although I technically never graduated from High School, I studied information systems at Utah Valley University. After my first semester I realized I learned much better self taught. I dropped out and started working full time at OrangeSoda, an online marketing company as a software engineer, and never looked back.
In 2011, I dove head first into Punchline Advertising. We’ve grown from a 3 person team working out of Jonathan’s dining room to a hugely successful, nationwide, full service advertising agency.
I now spend my time managing a team of developers and creating custom web based software using WordPress as an application framework.
